Fake mesh has the textured look of mesh without the open holes, so the shorts stay light and breathable without being see-through. The QuickDry finish helps sweat leave the fabric faster, which you'll notice most over a long session.
The elastic sits on the inside of the waistband and is backed by a drawstring, so you can tighten the fit instead of relying on the elastic alone. Support is built into the shorts themselves, and the contrasting piping down each side gives them a cleaner look than a plain block colour.
